There is a wide range of Western treatments for Erectile Dysfunction. These have been developed by doctors in the United States, United Kingdom and other western countries.

However, erectile dysfunction is a problem that affects adult males all across the globe. Therefore, it would not come as a surprise if ancient cultures that have been existing for centuries, like that of India, have developed their own treatment for erectile dysfunction.

You may call it “eastern” treatment or by its real name, Ayurveda. As of now, it is made available by a few medical practices all through the United States, and is recommended by a certain Dr. Vasant Lad, the Director of the Ayurvedic Institute in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

This is what he suggests to patients who visit his institute:

Blend a cup of fresh grape juice with a teaspoon each of onion juice and honey. Drink this mixture every day, about one hour before sleeping. Do this for a period of 45 days. Once this is completed, Dr. Lad says, “You will notice a boost in sexual drive and an increase in sperm count”.

However, this is only the tip of the iceberg. There is still much more to discover about this eastern treatment. As a matter of fact, its belief is that the main energy that gives power to life is expressed in the three doshas, which are, vata, pitta and kapha.

Indian wisdom says that each and every one of us has a different blend of doshas. Most often than not, one dosha is more dominant than the other, which comes second in importance.

According to Ayurveda, doshas should be balanced and this can only be possible by means of a proper diet. If this is not followed, it will cause an imbalance of your personal doshas, which you wouldn’t like to happen.

According to Dr. Lad, if you are a man with a kapha constitution, you have to add a dash of an Indian herb known as trikatu. Your main dosha means that you are calm, strong, sensuous, forgiving and soft-spoken. You are fortunate to have a well-developed body.

Though you have big bones, they are not prominent. You are blessed with thick hair that is dark and wavy. You probably have an oily complexion and large, expressive eyes. You have a disadvantage, though, since you tend to have a problem with regards to weight. But as a whole, you have a very nice figure.

If you are a vata male, you are most likely, creative, very resourceful and witty. You have the ability to get things done. You are an active person, always on the move, a certified go-getter. But you have another side, which makes you a little complicated. You can be very romantic and sentimental. This is welcome news for you and your partner.

If you are a pitta male, what would you be like? To start with, you are nothing like the men whose main doshas vary from yours. As a matter of fact, you are strong willed, determined, tough, enthusiastic, ambitious, success-driven and very passionate.

Since you are an achiever, you can work very well under extreme pressure. You can be counted on, in times of trouble. However, you can be intimidating when you are out of balance. So, you can easily frighten others.

As earlier mentioned, there are but a few trained Ayurvedic practitioners in the United States, wherein Dr. Lad is one of them. Nevertheless, more Americans are discovering about Ayurveda and there is a growing interest in it.

Be reminded that Ayurvedic practitioners are not accredited physicians. Therefore, what they can only do for you is to give consultation. Now, if you are deeply interested in Ayurvedic therapies, you have to find a practitioner who is skilled enough to blend western medical training with the complete understanding of Ayurveda.

He must be able to manage his consultations for you with your regular doctor, so that you can get the best treatment.

There is another important thing that you need to know. As per Dr. Scott Gerson, an internist from New York and a Ayurveda consultant, “western medicine works effectively when surgical procedure is needed”. According to him, Ayurveda functions as preventive medicine that can be used to cure some chronic illnesses.

There is probable reason for this way of thinking. While surgery treats the symptoms of medical conditions, Ayurveda treats the root of these health problems.

What are the chronic illnesses that Ayurveda can effectively treat? There is a lot of them, including fatigue, dizziness, digestive problems and most importantly, erectile dysfunction.
Last of all, the two of the most commonly used Ayurveda treatments are as follows:

Tribulus Terrestris

This is an all-natural treatment for Erectile Dysfunction. This Ayurveda practice, which is prominent in Indian culture, has 2 important uses: as a tonic and an aphrodisiac. It has a Sanskrit name of gokshura, which when translated, means flowering plant. It is, likewise, helpful in increasing testosterone levels, for building muscle mass and boosting sex drive.

This is another remedy for Erectile Dysfunction. It is, also, known as “velvet bean”, which is derived from a climbing shrub. When this is used in the proper way, it increases tissue resiliency and enhances coordination. Most important of all, it maintains healthy testosterone levels in the body, which increases muscle mass, gives more strength and enhances sex drive.
